Pigeon Microsanctuary
The Dovecote is a small, dedicated pigeon microsanctuary grounded in the principles of animal-centric design. It provides a safe, carefully designed home for rescued and unreleasable pigeons, with attention to their individual needs, relationships, and daily lives.
The Dovecote follows the broader microsanctuary model, which emphasizes small-scale, sustainable sanctuary care for rescued animals using the space and resources already available.

The Dovecote Initiative
The Dovecote Initiative is a developing education and advocacy initiative dedicated to rethinking the place of pigeons in human communities. Too often treated as nuisance, excess, or background, pigeons are in fact historic companions, urban cohabitants, and highly social animals whose lives have long been entangled with our own.
This project aims to develop accessible materials for municipalities, community groups, and the general public that encourage more humane, informed, and imaginative approaches to pigeon coexistence — including the possibility of municipal dovecotes as spaces of care, stewardship, and civic responsibility.
